Whatcha drinking There...

I really like these tea&coffee carafe's as they keep your hot drinks hot and they also allow you to mingle with guests versus babysitting the coffee maker/kettle... but unfortunately there is always one guest at the party who will put the coffee carafe on the tea carafe counter and vice versa... so instead of using masking tape & a marker to announce your "hot beverages" i think this brings a little classy&creativity to the party !! (and prevents guests from smelling the carafe to figure out what it is - ummm not as classy)

I started off by taping around the area i wanted painted... I used painters tape & martha.stewarts chalkboard paint in black (i luv her marketing look) the paint was purchased at Micheal's for under $10 along with a small foam brush for $1

i applied three coats of paint in total ... and what might you ask did i do while waiting for the paint to dry ?? i may have had some coffee - hmmm imagine that

the first coat goes on very streaky (well actually they all kind of do but the end result will be just fine - i think it is because of the non-porous material of which i was painting on)

once it was completely dry (the next day) I very carefully removed the tape

rub the painted surface with the chalk to "prep" it (as per directions on the paint bottle)

and wallah - a really cool way to let everyone know what i am serving

a close up of what i will be serving this weekend !!

side note - if you have never tried bengal.spice i highly recommend it - personally i find it sweet and does not need sugar just a splash of milk... mmmmm

(i think i would have preferred white chalk but this was all i could find - even all our sidewalk chalk is "hibernating" for the winter - surprisingly the yellow chalk looked pretty great)

Have a great weekend

Genius! I am absolutely in love with your idea! You're definitely taking the chalkboard craze to the next level :)
