Two Post Tuesday - Part Deux....

I have talked about the fireplace wall before and how it just looks to builder-like to me

My plan of armoires flanking either side of the fireplace just isn't in the budget

So this is what we ended up with instead

It seems like a lot of brown in the picture
I assure you I have made some changes on that too
(those details for a future post)

I prefer not to see the TV - and since we are not TV watches much anyway I would prefer to have it behind closed doors (like armoires as I had originally planned for - see my logic)

But alas....

Because it still isn't in the budget I decided to rework the art work instead as the balance seemed off and to high in the air for me...

I picked up these felt placemats from a trendy home decor shop for $6 each

I hung them up to get an idea if I liked them

(They hung there for the entire summer like this, hanging by black tacks - embarrassing I know)

And so enough was enough....

I took two Ikea frames

I took the two felt placemats I bought

Decided I liked them better on Black so I used 12x12 cardstock that I already had and adhered it to the back of the Ikea frame "backer board"

I realize that the ikea matting was a much creamier white than what I wanted so I just flipped it over
(it loses the bevel edge on the matting when you flip it but I was okay with that - see the color difference)

I then glued everything in place with my glue-gun as the felt place mats are to heavy for my other adhesive

Then cleaned the frame, glass, and put it all back together

This time I used real picture hangers and put those black tacks away for another "future art project"

And Whalaaahhhhhhhhh....
(the height of the fireplace pictures now line-up with the dining room mirror - much better)

Oh and did you notice the little brown side table is now sitting beside the "caterpillar corduroy" chair, sporting a fresh coat of white paint

the brown ottoman still needs a redo as well - just not sure what to do yet

and just for fun I did this to see what the two armoires would look like - I couldn't get the pick to be big ??
(and sweets if your reading this, this is for fun babe really just for fun - nothing has been ordered)
