i have eluded to my kitchen backslpash many times, and have i ever made a commitment to one, NO. why? i dunno... sometimes it is the cost that changes my mind and sometimes it is the fact that i really like the changeability of a painted surface that can be changed with a pretty simple can of paint and a couple hours of work. Tile is a commitment to me and since styles come and go i wish for something timeless.
i have a couple options in my mind right now. remember a couple weeks ago when i shared a glimpse of the possible backsplash idea i had.
this one

so i went out and bought four of those tiles and lined them all up on the counter and looked at them from every angle possible. and i liked it, but the clean ability factor is bothering me... what if food splashes and it stains the marble (not that this really ever happens, but what if it did) and at nearly $20 per tile i will need mucho deneros for it.

so back to the store we went and this one came home with us at under $6 a sheet

we both like it, the price is a third of what the other tile is, but i am just not sure... it seems almost to simple.

i thought about staggering the joints and this idea is growing on me. what do you think? is it to plain? or is it simple in a classy way?
here are a couple other tile options that i am really liking as well... hence my dilemma as there are so many great options
this one is on a display kitchen at a local store and i love the cut grey stone, but maybe to busy...

the stainless steel tile which the sweets is a fan of, this would be his pick!... i worry it is not as timeless though

these are the long key largo stone tiles, which i like a little better than the sample i have in my kitchen currently as they are not a mixed stone so therefore these two tile samples have a more cleanable surface i think, not as rough... so i think these are my first vote...

the hex tile, supper cool...

the basket weave, i think this is vote number two for me... i like the linear symmetrical look (surprise surprise) and it is very classic...

ahhhhh the penny round, i really like the look of these (vote number three for me, as they are different but classic as well (i think))...

i welcome your thoughts and suggestions as you can see my dilemma, to many great options.
have a great day

Hmmm... tough call. Choosing a backsplash feels like a big commitment :) I really like long bars-- but I also really love the penny rounds. Those would be my picks. Can't wait to see what you choose! I'm sure it's going to look fantastic :)
I love them all! Unfortunately I can't help because for the past year I have had the same dilemma!!! Hard decision! How many times I've looked at samples and googled ideas...☺
I really like the long thin tiles, like you said easy cleaning is a big thing. I think they will stand the test of time as well.
