our conversations can run anywhere from talking about toothbrushes to how i should open a major coffee chain in my back yard for all those times that "those guys with those old grandma ladies" drive in our back yard, cause then they could at least have a coffee once they realize our driveway is not a road (it really is obvious that our driveway is not a road, i think they are just former residents of the area who are curious as to how the area has changed. and as another side note, is old and lady really necessary when describing a grandma ?? apparently our youngest thinks it is). then we chat about trees blowing in the wind, what animal or shape the clouds look like, what we would name a kitten if we had a kitten - which leads to the obvious question... can we have a kitten ??, then we talk about toothbrushes again, jump over to chatting about go karts, the color of shoelaces, how we should have lasagna for supper, how to burp, the name of their rock band someday and who gets to be the lead singer, drummer, and they even discuss who in their class gets to be the band manager (its all about the details, as random as they might be)
never a dull moment or a clean floor in our house !!
on other news... as of this past friday i was only 3k away from meeting my goal of 100k walked by november 1st. now i am busy thinking about what the next goal might be... i am thinking it might have something to do with drinking more water and lifting weights... i will give it more thought and post the new goal very soon.

remember mr.stump?? seen here looking rather sad laying on the driveway

he has certainly made a lovely addition to our living room

note: the top is totally level - the angle of the picture just makes it look like it isn't
first i gave him a really good sanding, let him dry for almost a month in the garage (he had already been siting in the wood pile for over a year and was very dry, but this was just to be sure) i prayed that any bugs who had also seen the potential of this chunk of a tree had since decided to move on to a better residence in which to live. now well dried out i took the air compressor and gave him a very thorough blasting, applied one coat of clear varathane oil based, let it dry, gave it a light sanding with a 600 grit sandpaper, applied another coat, and thus repeated those three steps multiple times. it then sat in the garage for another 2 weeks just to make sure no varathane smell existed, then he sat in the back entrance a couple days, and then to his new home next to the sofa in the living room.
perfect
