So Friday was not a great day... the weekend didn't fair much better unfortunately... but it is now Tuesday and "they" are off to school for the second day this week and it is all good! This morning while i was getting myself and the younger guy ready...our oldest was up to something!!... i made my way to the kitchen early this morning to get lunches a breakfast going only to find the lunch makings were all set out neatly on the counter, one lunch was already made, and the dishes from yesterdays supper were dried and all put away... WOW... this little guy is such a sweetheart... i am so proud of him... he shows such great initiative!! what a great way to start the day...

So i have been doing a lot of thinking on the redesigning of our room, an "update" i will call it... a couple new items are on the list and new bed and bedding is part of the list. I really like what we have but it is showing some wear, and when all your bedding is white, it just gets a little worn after a while (a long while really)... the picture below is one idea i have had floating around in my "day dreaming" moments. i like black, and it is everywhere in our home, i also really like white, cream, and warm colors including greys. i like this look, i do think it is a little to "flashy" for me, i would like something a little more subtle as i feel it brings more calm, but this is super fun, and i really like the idea of a maltese coverlet for bedding - we have had one for years - and it is the perfect weight for all seasons when paired with flannel or cotton. I really like the Hermes collection at Ikea, they have a great bed frame and night stands, and you just cannot match those prices anywhere else... so i guess i will just have to keep you posted on what i decide!! (with possibly a pic or two)

another fun detail... when i designed our home, i had the lighting placed to complement a tray ceiling. now it has not been done yet as i compromised on stipple with the plans to tray it someday in the future when there was "funds" to do that project... i did come across this ceiling the other week and of course out comes my camera and i snapped the photos while the barrista made my coffee... it was a great little coffee shop close to "my sisters" new home, and it is beautiful... wishing i had one of those close to my office! Anyway... the ceilings were so beautiful and of course the walls had great panel moldings on them done in a off white, and a quaint fireplace with chairs on one side of the shop, ahhhh... but yeah those ceilings would look great in my powder-room, as without high ceilings i think it could be overwhelming in a larger space - oh, unless I painted it white! hmmmmm
