I took a little time for me and walked around the house and picked weeds and cleaned up the flower beds on Monday. I have about 60' of raised flower-beds and around 20' of it has greenery that my mom and dad have shared from their flower gardens that thankfully comes back every year to share their beauty. My parents yard is amazing and this year they removed their large garden and went to box gardening. My mom took a class at Lee Valley so this is pretty serious stuff. Both my parents have numerous awards for their tireless hard work ethic (i of course have just given them those awards - no one else was nominated and we did not have a banquet or anything, but they are still very important people and everyone who has ever worked with them knows this too!). i have some big plans for my flower gardens this year and the 7 planter pots that adorn every door and garage door need to be filled too. My favorite store ever is.... Garden Architecture (i bet you were guessing Ikea)... if you have never been to this store you have no idea what you are missing! I love Vancouver and used to walk around yaletown, Granville, kitts and the Quay all the time... beside the restaurant Kettle Fish on Pacific & Hornby there is this shop called The Urban Garden (1401 Hornby Street)... if you have never been, you must go! One time we were there and it was so hot outside and they were serving margaritas mmmmm. Anyway Garden Architecture is my version of this place on the prairies. You will probably see something from that store in every room in my house and my garden in some small way... i will warn you do not take little children as everything is breakable inside the stores showroom and you likely will not purchase a lot... the patios furniture i wish i had is there... umm like around $6G's for it! (my superstore stuff for like 1/48th of the price will do just fine!!) but if you can check out their garden area and the greenhouses that look like really large elaborate birdcages are amazing, the statues and greenery is breathtaking, check it out if you can and if you do not know where to go - call me and we can go together!!
anyway... enough rambling... these are two of my favourites from my flowers beds...
first is this flowering almond from my parents (it actually gets almonds every year - we do not eat them though - not sure if you can)...

and secondly is this beautiful succulent (cannot remember the name - "Herman's pride" maybe - no i think that is wrong...)

ahhhh spring... Thank you for arriving!!
