I have used this paint on raw wall aka drywall & mud... and it goes on beautifully. I have also used this paint throughout most of my home and have always been really pleased with how it handles, covers, and the clean-up is quick. It has a mild odor , much less than other paints I have used previously, but just be aware that ventilation is a good idea.
Friday I had totally set in my mind that I was going to go with a deep navy for my office... we had a deep navy & white kitchen in our very first "purchased" home and really liked it a lot.
Being that my office is mostly windows I figured I could still go with a dark color. The red currently in my office was a discontinued General.Paint color and was professionally painted when we built our home. Unfortunately the color seemed to be a challenge for anyone to mix as when looking closely at the walls you could see where the painters had switched to the new can (I figured professionals would know not to switch mid wall - but alas) And being that they had to make four trips during the painting of this room to get "the right" or "the almost right color" as it would end up being... I figured starting fresh with a new color would be a time saver... and well FUN
So back to the color Navy... well late friday night I was itching to paint... and since patience & creativity seems to swing opposite from each other
I did this...
I had 3/4 of a paint can of "Raindance" left over from the back entrance and figured hey... why not
First I painted a test area to see if I wanted to go this route... it was so bright, I liked it
Office Before (the pre-painting mess)
I patched all the holes first - personally I like this product as there is no guessing if your mud is dry...
purple = wet & white = dry... easy peasy grape freezy
And "almost" After... this pic is after the first coat - look how well it covered over the dark red - super paint... I did do two coats just to make sure everything was covered and no red was flashing through
My office is approx. 10'x12' and on one wall I would like to use it as a feature wall for art work and if I can, incorporate a cool way to organize project lists for a quick glance (a white board is not my idea of pretty) so I will have to be creative.
I have had a roll of paintable wallpaper kicking around for a while now... I have also thought of wood slats, rock, tile, chalkboard paint, exposed brick, and well just plain painting it to match the rest of the room
But for now it sits the original red (which looks not so lovely with the new blue/green colored "raindance"
And shown below are the beginning's of my "new" office desk
(to be made by my Dad)
In the corner by the largest window I feel like I need a chair
Perhaps the "Deconstructed Roll Arm Chair" via RH
with matching ottoman - lovely
This week I hope to finalize the "feature" wall in my office and post some pics
Happy Monday - Keep Warm
