a great weekend once again...

we had a great weekend yet again... this summer has been one of the best ever! We think the boat has played a big part in that, as we have had some great adventures checking out many new lakes. I think in total we have done eight lakes this summer, most are a good two hours away but the road trips have been great (i stress a little tiny bit pulling something down the high way and gravel roads as required to reach these said lakes) but all worth it!
this past weekend the weather was just not conducive to boating so we ventured out on the bikes instead. (this is where we hang our heads in shame) We did a sad 6km on Saturday, but in our defense the wind was so strong and the humidity was 90%... we were all melting... the wind and heat makes you sleepy too! so we did the usual stop for ice cream, and then biked over to Starbucks thinking that perhaps some coffee would perk us up (ahhh nope) I even did a double shot espresso and sadly no burst of energy was supplied. our usual coffee stop on our bike route happened to be where a scheduled summer event is always taking place, and as we had taken in the "festival" three times now in total this past week... we sat with our coffee looking at the "scenery of both people and buildings" as this event provides some great people watching (what can i say - we don't have cable tv so we are easily amused i guess) This was our first year at this event as we have never checked out this particular "festival" as we figured it would be weird, and ummm yeah it was really weird. so as we sat on the boulevard (as the street was shut down for the weekend), we just watched people as they manoeuvred past us... me keeping both boys in the corner of my eye at all times... but as we sat there we looked up at the building above the stores and were rather surprised at the apparent "income & lifestyle" that accompanied these places... i snapped this picture of the top of the building and it was rather pretty... i love old buildings and the detail that would go into them... i miss that in our modern buildings, i wish there was more of a mix... but anyway it was great!

Sunday we relaxed, stopped at costco to look at "stuff" and found the U2 360 Tour DVD for $8 so we grabbed that and our big jar of peanut butter and off we were. We planned to get our school supply shopping done early this year to beat the rush, well apparently others had the same idea. so we grabbed tim's, visited with family, grabbed the supplies we needed, and hit the road for an hour or so drive to camp. E-man is at camp this week and he is so excited, he has been packed days and could hardly wait to see his friends... so after a couple hugs we got him settled in and we headed home. We spent the rest of the evening relaxed on the couch with the little man and watch the DVD we picked up earlier and reminisced about our U2 concert experience in Buffalo... good times!

So this morning started off in complete "A" style. Being that he is the only little person around here for a couple days, i plan to make it special for him too (being away at camp is not his thing just yet) So this morning we cut a watermelon in quarters and we each took a spoon and picked our quarter, breakfast was served...mmmmmm!! then we challenged each other to a round of "The Farming Game" (grandma was cleaning out the attic last fall and found this game, "A" snapped it up as fast as he could and now it is ours... neither of us knew the rules so we just handed out lots of money to each of us and played to win!

now off to work... so many houses so little time!
