The Happenings

our neighbors tree, three weeks ago... and I am pretty sure it started raining the very next day and has not stopped since... rain rain

All the trees on our yard are slow growing - we are not sure why
But with all this rain, they are finally growing. I like that when you start fresh with a new build you can pick and choose where you want everything.
however when it comes to the yard, I am very thankful for the existing tree lines that we have, as the remaining windbreak/privacy trees that we have planted are taking their sweet time to establish in this "old soil" - and by old soil I mean soil over grown with quack grass that has not been touched in the 60 years prior to us building here.
All in good time...

We zipped over to the "heim" to check out marvins on wednesday. I am only getting around to shopping for my flowers now (later than usual) however with all the rain we have been having I am sure I am not the only one delayed this year.
My boys luv going here, the deal is they each get to pick our a pack of flowers that they like and all summer long when guests stop by, they always point out "and these flowers over here are mine" - they also are responsible to water and weed around those flowers... ownership means a lot to little boys.
there are carts at marvins, and they each get two aisles to push it down - just to be fair.
our youngest decided to decorate the cart with random flowers on the floor that had fallen from the hanging baskets above... he has his mama's eye for decorating


The end of the school year is fast approaching which means field trips around here.

A's field trip took us to the river banks and we did all sorts of fun kid type stuff. Two of the items he was able to bring home now sit on one of our side tables in the living room on display for all to see and enjoy... a beautiful birds nest that he made out of old phone lines and a "dinosaur" tooth that he dug up from soil brought in from the mine in central usa... a little company for the mexico shells



and because some of you are probably wondering what is going on with the progress of the mud room details... I will give you a hint - we ordered cabinets yesterday - I will post details maybe later today on what we decided on.... they are so pretty in a handsome way
