So as I had promised last friday that I would post on the new cabinets that we ordered for the mudroom the day previously.... here we go almost a week late...
So a little history on the happenings - or lack of happenings back there and why - back a few months when we had everything lined up ready to go, our carpenter hurt his back
so it delayed us a little but no problem - we are the kind of folks that roll with it - and then it started to rain...
We couldn't move the materials in the rain - have you seen what mdf/melamine does in the rain - not good
So again, okay no problem nothing we can do about the rain so again we rolled with it - I may have been getting a little grumpy at the lack of progress and lack of cleanliness and organization in the mudroom by now too - but again we will roll with it and just wait till it stops raining... ummm that brings us to 6 weeks later and here we are.
so in the meantime we had a couple other quotes done on the cabinets and most came in at roughly $500 per linear foot... hmmmm - nice cabients but unfortunately not in my budget
I pulled my ikea catalog out of hiding and checked out my options there. I was so delighted when i found the
soooo now what....
I do a lot of work for a local builder/building supplier and felt silly that I had not thought to check there first. I just figured they would be even pricier so I didn't go that route... I am glad I did, and wish I had thought of this two months ago as the cabinets would likely have arrived by now, but alas we sit and wait for these beauties to arrive.
I went with a maple door, shaker style, with a finish called "cape cod gray" it has a very subdued look to it and of course I brought in my jumbo paint chip (the canvas I had painted with Raindance) and the cabinets felt very similar to the era that the paint reflects. I think my plan of old farm house feel will be felt in the mudroom forsure.
