Projects on the go...

Lots on my mind these days... here is a glimpse of what I am doing, thinking, and have been up to

I saw this absolutely beautiful tree house posted on "Brooklyn limestone's" blog the other day and wondered could this...

become this...

hmmmmmmm I will keep you posted should the plan/opportunity unfold/arise this summer

Remember way back about a month ago when i posted this bedding picture and said I really liked it but it was too expensive and I needed to make it myself or find a deal cause I am cheap thrifty...

if you also might remember i posted about my sweets bringing in our boys clothes that they had grown out of to a consignment store one day... this store just so happened to pay cash for the clothes... I put the consignment money towards the set and in the end I paid $40... that made my frugal mind very happy!

We have always had white bedding, so going to a color or pattern seemed odd to me, I like them in other peoples homes, but for some reason I just always come back to white for us... now I just need to finish the bed off with some fresh pillows and a throw, the dark colors feel like fall to me(sorry not the best picture - my camera is 9yrs old, so a new camera someday is also on my list, can you say a Nikon1 in white, can you also say cha ching - oh well)

Since bedrooms seem to be a bit of theme this week, there is another room that is on my mind

this one is in rough shape, remember back in fall when i posted about painting the boys rooms.. one black, and one orange (the boys picked the colors and I went with it - against my choice of a pale yellow and a warm gray)
I also went against my better judgment and purchased a paint that was not aura, it did not end well.  The black and orange went on horribly and even after two coats the previous color was very obvious in the orange room.
The paint had poor coverage and it was very frustrating to work with.  So last week I went back to my favorite paint store and bought a gallon of aura paint in the color "aztec brick" by benjamin moore.  The wall prep has been done and painting is on my list of things to do this week... here is what it looks like now

how embarrassing...  it can only get better, right?? (there used to be permanent'ish cabinetry on the wall under the loft bed - hence why there is a square of gray) I am not a lets paint around furniture kind of person, and I certainly don't encourage that type of painting behaviour - but everyone has a moment where removing the cabinetry was more work than hanging it in the first place - and this was my moment - now is my face red?)

One project I started last week that was completed in roughly 15minites was a table centerpiece for our outdoor coffee table

I started with one of these trays, purchase at home.sense for $12, and had my little man fill it with rocks for drainage

I then added potting soil, and some "hens & chicks" also called "handsome chicks" around here depending on which member of my family you are
and wah lah... a fun outdoor centerpiece
the hens and chicks will multiply over time, just don't forget to water them every now and then

If only I could retire now....I might have time to actually do 10% of your projects you dream up.
