Infinity & Beyond...

This past November I stumbled across my old bag of crocheting.  Inside the bag were some partially made toque's for my boys, as well as some shawls I had made years ago for myself that were way to small to be an actual shawl... sometimes I struggle with judging crochet size on myself & my babies heads!
So it was at this time (november) that I decided I would make everyone a hand crochet infinity scarf for Christmas... perhaps that was a hasty decision...
As a full time drafter - I use my hands a lot, so when I am not working my downtime should not consist of crocheting - that equals a very sore neck, arms, wrists & fingers...

So in the spirit of not giving up - I decided to go this route...

Prepare yourself for some awkward photos of my neck... as how does one take a photo of your own neck multiple times & not make it look repeatedly awkward...

It was fun, quick and easy (that is once I figured out my pattern)... in total I made 25 scarves in three evenings (in 8 different colors & patterns)

I simply went to the fabric store, picked out all the fabrics I liked (most fabrics were stretchy - however the blue linen scarf has no stretch at all, and the light pink floral pattern has very minimal stretch - and personally I like how they wear, as they are a little more of a structured look), all in all it was fun being creative and my simple black wardrobe now has some color options... oh and my family luv'd them too!

Another Christmas project that I did for my family required a little more detail.... My brother asked for something special - Artwork to be exact by me...  I was stumped till I came across this picture of he & my dad...

My scale is not perfect & in the end I just couldn't muster up the nerve to actually apply water to my watercolor drawing...  my phone pic isn't the best quality, but you get the idea.
I simply applied watercolor pencil to art paper 11x14, then found a second hand frame w/ glass, that I painted white to place it in - total cost $4 as I already had the art supplies... in the excitement of it being finished I forgot to take a final picture of it... ooops

Did you make any of your gifts this past Christmas?  If so what did you do?

Planning & looking ahead...
Do you plan on making any of your own Valentines gifts this year?
